Limitless movers taking apart a grand piano in a living room

Piano moving

Grand or upright, down the stairs or across the country. Don’t hurt yourself. Call the professionals.

Your piano is heavy, top-heavy and easy to damage

A piano is the one thing in the house you really don’t want to tip, scrape or drop. We plan the move before moving day, then send the crew and the equipment the job needs.

Tell us whether it’s a grand or an upright, roughly how big it is, and the full route out: steps, stairs, tight turns and doorways. A photo helps. That tells us how many movers to send and what to bring, from piano boards and heavy-duty dollies to straps and padding.

“I had them move my grand piano. They were soo careful, and did a fabulous job!!”

How we move a piano

  • Grand pianos

The legs and lyre come off, the body is wrapped in blankets and plastic, and the piano is strapped on its side to a piano board for the move.

  • Upright pianos

Padded on every side and moved on a dolly, with extra hands on stairs and thresholds.

  • On the truck

Strapped in place so it can’t shift, with the same padding and plastic whether it’s going across town or across the country.

  • At the new place

Brought in along the route we planned and set where you want it. Grands go back on their legs before we leave.

Piano moving questions

What do you need to know to quote a piano?

Upright or grand, the size if you know it, and the route: stairs, steps, tight turns and where it’s going. A photo helps.

Can you move just a piano?

Yes. A single piano is a job on its own, with no full move required.

Can you move a piano out of state?

Yes. We’re a licensed interstate household-goods mover, so a piano can travel with the rest of your cross-country move.
